It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Asian Tourism Research (ATR), the official journal of the Asian Tourism Research Secretariat at the School of Tourism Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University. This journal emerges from a growing recognition that tourism in Asia is shaped by unique cultural, social, political, and environmental contexts that demand regionally grounded scholarship. Our aim is to create a dedicated space for critical, interdisciplinary research that reflects the lived realities, challenges, and innovations in Asian tourism.
ATR is more than a journal—it is part of a larger academic ecosystem that includes international conferences, symposia, and graduate research colloquiums, all working together to foster dialogue and collaboration among scholars and practitioners. Through this initiative, we seek to amplify voices from Asia and build a repository of knowledge that is both globally relevant and locally meaningful.
As Editor-in-Chief, I invite researchers from diverse backgrounds to contribute original articles, conceptual explorations, and research notes that push boundaries and provoke thought. We are committed to academic rigor, inclusivity, and accessibility, and we look forward to your engagement with ATR as authors, reviewers, and readers.
Together, let us shape the future of tourism scholarship in and for Asia.
Regards,
Editor-in-chief
